Symphony of Heaven was formed in 2017 by Logan “Pathos” Thompson in Owensville, Indiana, initially as a solo project. The project’s early work included the release of the single “Stratagem” and the EP “Of Scars and Soil,” both of which showcased a blend of melodic death metal with symphonic elements.
In November 2017, Symphony of Heaven released their debut full-length album, “The Season of Death,” under Nosral Recordings. This album established the project’s presence in the Christian metal scene, featuring intricate compositions that combined aggressive riffs with melodic interludes.
By October 2018, the project expanded into a full band with the addition of members such as Eero Tertsunen on lead guitar, David “Timōrātus” Napier on bass, and Mason “Asaph” Beard on drums. This lineup marked a significant evolution in their sound and live performances.
In 2020, Symphony of Heaven released the EP “The Ascension of Extinction” through Rottweiler Records. This conceptual work addressed themes of societal downfall and spiritual decay, reflecting the band’s engagement with contemporary issues through a Christian perspective.
The band’s second full-length album, “Maniacal Entropik Discordium,” was released on December 17, 2021. This album featured contributions from all band members and included a cover of Death’s “Flesh and the Power It Holds,” highlighting their technical proficiency and diverse influences.
Throughout their career, Symphony of Heaven has performed alongside notable acts such as A Hill to Die Upon, Crimson Moonlight, Drottnar, and Taking the Head of Goliath, among others. Their music draws inspiration from bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Behemoth, and Living Sacrifice, blending melodic death metal with blackened elements to create a unique sound within the Christian metal genre.
In October 2024, Symphony of Heaven released their third album, “Ordo Aurum Archeia,” which showcased their continued evolution and commitment to delivering heavy, melodic, and spiritually infused metal music.
As of 2025, Symphony of Heaven remains active, engaging with their audience through live performances and maintaining a strong presence in the metal community. Their dedication to their craft and faith continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
